Chains of Honor is a runesword used in body armor and is considered a very useful runesword due to its huge resistances and skill bonuses. It is considered the best armor of choice for paladins employing the Smite ability (commonly known as Smiters).

– 8% of life stolen per hit
– + 70% improved defense
– +20 Strength
– Replenish Life +7
– All resistances +65
– Damage reduced by 8%
– 25% more chance to get magic items
+2 to all abilities
Only 2 runic words that are used in Body Armor have +2 on all abilities and that is Chains of Honor and Enigma.
+2 to all abilities is an attractive mod for both casters and melee characters, but no one craves it more than the Smiter.
Why?
Attackers deal damage with their shield and not with their weapons. There are only two ways a Smiter can increase the damage done by his Punish abilities: + Damage Modifier (numerical value), or by using a + To All Abilities modifier.
Weapons only add damage to the Smite ability if they have the Damage + modifier (numerical value), and only some weapons have that mod (ex: The Grief Runeword is very popular for this reason, as it places the above-mentioned modifier on the weapon in which the runic sword is placed).
+ To all Skills Modifiers add more levels to the following Paladin Skills, which are used by Smiters to increase their damage potential: Punishment, Holy Shield, and Zealotry Aura. So it’s no wonder that items with the + A skill modifier all appeal to Smiters.
8% Life Stolen by hit
Life leech is a nice mod, but unfortunately it doesn’t work with the Smite ability.
All resistances + 65%
This is a very good reason for any character to wear armor imbued with the runic word Chain of Honor. A + 65% to all stamina is a gigantic boost and extremely useful when playing on Hell difficulty.
Damage reduced by 8%
Many players try to put on at least one item that has% resistance to physical damage, for the very good reason that it reduces the damage taken from successful attacks and therefore leads to one of the most important objectives for all players of Diablo 2 (especially those who play in Hardcore mode): don’t die
Resume:
This is the King of Armor for Paladins dealing damage via Punishment Skill, for the +2 to All Skills, massive Resistance increases and the nice Physical Resistance mod on it. Enigma also has +2 to all abilities, but is more expensive in terms of the runes required. Players faced with a choice between the two runic words often make their choice based on their play style: if they prefer to play the game proper, kill monsters (Players vs. Monsters or PVM), then they choose Chains of Honor for everyone. the benefits. already listed. If they prefer to play PK-style (which stands for Player Killer, literally killing other players in duels), then they might go for Enigma, as it is the only Runeword that offers non-Sorceresses the use of the Teleport Skill, which is beyond invaluable in PvP (Player vs. Player).
Other classes may still find this armor-based Runeword very useful, due to the massive increase in Resistances.
