With miles and miles of beaches, a world-famous zoo, great restaurants, incredible surfing, world-renowned golf and horse racing, spectacular sunsets, and perfect weather year-round, what’s not to love about San Diego?
One of the most popular things to do in San Diego is to go to the beach. But in San Diego, no two beaches are the same, each one has a unique personality. Need some ideas on which beach to call your own? Here is a list of 7 of the best beaches in San Diego:
- crowned beach – Gentle surf, wide open spaces, pristine sand and the magnificent Hotel del Coronado in the background have earned this beach a spot on the Travel Channel’s Top Ten Beaches in America.
- pacific beach – Whether you’re cruising the seemingly endless boardwalk or grabbing a cold beer at one of the many beachfront bars, Pacific Beach (commonly known as “PB”) is the place to people watch. With its proximity to great nightlife, PB is a favorite place for college students to hang out.
- mission beach – A stone’s throw from SeaWorld is Mission Beach, home to Belmont Park: an oceanfront amusement park reminiscent of Coney Island and the Santa Monica Pier.
- La Jolla Cove – The north end is a paradise for divers and is home to the La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve. On the southern tip, you’ll find Seal Rock, home to many wild California gray seals.
- Swami’s Beach – Find your surf mojo at Swami’s Beach in Encinitas. Located just south of Self-Realization Fellowship Ashram’s Hermitage and Mediation Gardens, Swami’s Beach is where you’ll find some of San Diego’s most zen-like waves.
- dog beach – During “off-leash” season (which runs from the day after Labor Day through June 15), this little beachfront strip located north of 29th Street in Del Mar is a great place for dogs run, swim, play and be well. … Just be a dog!
- blacks beach – Although public nudity is illegal in San Diego, lifeguards tend to turn the other cheek when it comes to Blacks Beach, popularly known as San Diego’s nude beach. Blacks Beach is located near Torrey Pines State Beach.
