A wedding at your home or that of a family member can be a highly personalized experience. Your friends and family may have been to your home many times, so it provides a comfortable environment for them. It can also give you some luxuries that you might not have elsewhere. You can decorate completely as you want, and your style is already reflected in your home. You don’t have to worry about what time you, your florist, and your caterer can arrive at the space, or what time you have to leave. Even after the main event is over, your closest friends and family can stay late into the night, chatting on the patio, around the fireplace, in the dining room, or at the pool table if you wish.
However, there are some preparations to do to prepare your home.
1.Clean and tidy house and garden
– Is it necessary to paint something (ie front door, address plate)?
– Is there a messy room that needs to be cleaned?
-Are there rooms that should be set out of reach of the guests?
– Does the garden need cleaning? Do you need to weed or plant? Make sure to water a couple of days in advance, so everything is cool, but not soggy just yet. And don’t forget to turn off the sprinklers if they have a timer. You don’t need any surprises when the procession begins down a garden aisle.
– Is it necessary to move large potted plants?
2. Provider
– Can the caterer use the kitchen (if so, are there any appliances that need to be repaired)?
-If not, is there room for the supplier to install a kitchen area?
– Is there storage space for the provider (maybe one of those cluttered rooms being cleared)?
– Make sure there is enough cooling space for the supplier’s needs.
-Are there enough electrical outlets? Do you need to choose a power strip or extension cords?
3. Rentals
– Determine your needs. Will you need tables, chairs, bedding, a rug to create a hallway? Have a representative from the rental company, event planner, caterer, or all of them take a tour of your home.
4 garbage
-Do you have enough trash cans? Suggestion: empty them before the wedding.
5. Decoration
-Can you put lights or paper lanterns in the trees?
-Want to rent some trees or potted plants?
– If you have a pool or pond, can you float candles or water lilies?
Tip: A rental company can help you decorate your home or patio, adding lighting, a lattice structure to create a gazebo, even additional furniture).
6. The wedding day
– Make sure items like toilet paper, guest towels, hand soap are on hand and in sufficient quantity, and perhaps designate someone to make sure they are replenished, if necessary.
Finally, you may want to have a housekeeper or someone who is familiar with the house and family (other than a member of the wedding party or family, remember, they are there to celebrate, not work, too. ) to help your providers find things. and your way around the house, and also act as a liaison with you and your family, or your wedding party or planner.
