A simple, beautifully written romantic comedy that will take its reader on a rollercoaster ride with all the members. is a story of Nikita Kumar, a confused and unemployed twenty-five-year-old girl, who is very much in love with her best friend’s boyfriend and is desperately looking for a reason to break up with her current boyfriend. She has no idea what to do with her own life and she stays in Mumbai with her best friend. While attending a cousin’s wedding, she makes 6 resolutions. Will she be able to get attached to them?
The story takes many funny turns as all the characters narrate their part, how Nikita manages to say yes to marriage with Deepak, her current boyfriend and then breaks up with him. How Raghav, her crush gets her a job at the radio station he works for and they both end up co-hosting a primetime show. As the story progresses, Nikita meets a boy from his college days. They get along very well, become good friends and hang out together and soon she begins to fall for him, still confused about her true feelings for him. Raghav. The guy appears to be in a long-distance relationship, so she doesn’t take him any further.
As she is busy having no idea about her own life or what she wants to do with it and having fun at work, life takes an unexpected turn. One sudden twist and she becomes the bad guy, the culprit who not only sabotaged her best friend’s love life, but hers as well.
I must say that it is a kind of day-to-day story, written very simply. The author has a good sense of humor and a fresh writing style. The story is about mix-ups, friends’ lives interconnected with each other, and how misunderstandings arise. The story is about ordinary people you meet and their problems, but the perspective is fresh and keeps you glued to the book. There are no unnecessary scenes of drama, sex or kisses to make the novel more salable.
The story is about how the main character makes 6 resolutions of things she would never do, one night, and how she ends up doing each of them in a span of two years. How life takes control and she tells us every moment that she is unpredictable. All in all, a good cheery book to sit down with a coffee and enjoy on a rainy afternoon.
