We mostly use the phrase “Competitive Demands” as another way of saying what we really mean when we don’t have enough time in the day to do all the things we need to do.
Hey, but what if you really don’t have enough time in the day to complete the plan you made in the morning?
Why do we find this idea very uncomfortable and not easy to consider? Is it because we may have to admit that something is wrong and we think that we have tried everything to fit everything together?
If, like most of us, you want more time to balance your life, you may have considered looking into concepts of what kind of person we are. There’s a lot of research that says there are traits to the type of people we are when it comes to time management. This may be true, but most see traits as a quirk rather than an attribute. When we see our characteristics in a positive way to undertake personal development that allows us to live healthy lives in harmony with others and our environment (this would be impossible with negative qualities) we take control of our future.
Having faced my relationship with time management, I understand that I follow through on what I say I will do because I don’t want to disappoint people. This drives me as a worker; I don’t want to look bad! But it is very exhausting and I come home exhausted and having forgotten the cat food. However, if I build on this attribute instead of seeing it as something negative, I can create a win-win situation in my work knowing that I will always try my best not to let myself or others down.
So, in a world where I don’t want to let anyone down, but also need a healthy work-life balance, I need to build a plan for my day that includes factoring in lunch with a friend or buying cat food. , plus completing The 5 Things In My Inbox That Will Leave Me Most Satisfied That I At Least Considered Various Areas Of My Life During My Workday. This will lessen my resentment and lead me to be in continuous action regarding my work life balance. Now I can use my trait to not let myself down. When I don’t plan my day like this, I always end up tired and unhappy, beautiful job but sad home life!
Time management, like other concepts, is a goal, like many goals and aspirations in our lives, the final result we hope to obtain is happiness.
So why not try writing a daily activity action list that includes every area of your life where you would gain happiness if you accomplished them in the allotted time you have? Then work your plan!
