hello all new momsThis is perhaps an area you feel anxious about if you are still adjusting to life with your beautiful little vulnerable bundle, I would like to offer you some tips to make bath time easy and safe.
Just a reminder I am a mother of 3, a former foster parent and teacher, and a grandmother of 5. I have heard many for the first time. moms saying how worried they were in the early days with their babies, so here are some suggestions…
I now agree that wet babies who squirm and often scream at the new experience are slippery and worrisome. However, if you hold them wrapped in a towel on your knees with their heads above the water in front of you while sitting in a chair in front of the baby bath, with your hand and thumb supporting their neck, you have one hand free. to wash one’s hair.
Although they are very small, wrapping their arms and bodies in a towel like a cocoon to keep their arms from moving will make them feel warm, more secure, and boost your confidence.
Blow-dry her hair, talking softly to her will make both of you feel at ease, enjoy your time together. Then hold his left thigh with your left hand, with his head in the crook of your elbow, leaving his arms free, so they can squirm and splash, but you’re in full control, they can’t go anywhere.
Continuing to hold your thigh, then you have your right hand to wash them and then it’s easy to get them out of the water, up to your knee or a pre-prepared safe flat surface. If you are left-handed, reverse the procedure.
Before you start, have everything you need on hand, towels diapers talc creams, fresh clothes etc. There’s nothing worse than finding out you can’t reach a towel or other item when you need it, especially when bathing your baby is new to you.
You may choose to have a sit-in baby bath inside your master bathroom, or you may decide that the kitchen sink is easier, when the baby is young. You can stand with the sink at a suitable height. It would depend if you have taps that would get in the way, you wouldn’t want to burn or hit your baby.
I hope the above suggestions give you more confidence to enjoy your baby’s bath time.
