Grenada is commonly known as the Spice Island in the Caribbean, and it certainly has a lot of spice when it comes to offering some attractive and exciting activities for your vacation. Whichever Granada hotel you choose to stay at, you won’t be too far from some of these enchanting destinations.
Go bird watching at La Sagesse Nature Center
Some areas of the island are particularly good for bird watching, and this is one of the best. The nature center is situated on an estuary and the highlight is a salt pond that attracts a wide range of birds of all kinds. When you’ve had your fill of bird watching, you can spend some time at one of the beaches that are also part of the center.
Relax on Grand Anse beach in St George
You cannot visit the Caribbean and stay at the hotels of your choice in Grenada and not visit the Grand Anse beach in St George. This is one of the most popular areas that tourists choose to stay, and the beach is said to be one of the best the world has to offer. The sands stretch for almost two miles, providing plenty of places to spend the day with a beach towel.
Visit Annandale Falls and swim below
While there are several waterfalls you can visit [none of which are too difficult to reach for people departing their Grenada hotels for a day out], the Annandale Falls are surely among the best. These falls are ideal if you don’t want to do a long walk. A nice walk will be enough to reach the foot of the falls, and then you can jump into the water and enjoy a refreshing swim near where they splash in the water. Don’t miss the greenery that hangs over the water from above, or the observation deck for a great photo opportunity.
Visit the River Antoine Rum Distillery
The history here goes back over two hundred years, though it is said that distillation may have happened here even earlier than that. It’s quite fascinating to see the different stages of the distillation process, especially if you’ve been on tours of more modern distilleries before. Many things here are made purely by hand, resulting in a rum that is 70% proof and quite amazing to taste. The workers here produce their rum in the same way that others did before them, centuries ago.
Just as there are many Grenada hotels to choose from, there are plenty of attractions to choose from on a daily basis when visiting this attractive island. While you’ll want to explore some of the Caribbean beaches the island has to offer, there are plenty of other tempting attractions to see as well, all of which make the island irresistible to visit.
