Cancellation Policy For Student Housing
If you’ve booked York student accommodation, we understand there are sometimes reasons you may want to cancel your booking. Whether it’s because you haven’t achieved the required entry grades or been unsuccessful in getting your student visa, have been offered a different place at University, are no longer attending a higher education institution, or other extenuating circumstances preventing you from moving into your accommodation, this is totally fine.
Depending on the reason for your cancellation, we’ll assess it on a case-by-case basis and decide if you can be released from your contract or not. It’s important to note that you’ll still remain liable for any outstanding rent payments until we successfully re-let your room.
To be released from your licence agreement you must find a replacement resident to take over your tenancy and sign an AST with Cloud Student Homes (if applicable). Your guarantor will also need to provide proof of identity as well as complete a UK guarantor form. The guarantor must be a minimum of 21 years old, be employed full time and earn at least £25,000 per year to ensure they can cover your rent payments should you fail to meet your payment obligations. The incoming resident must have completed a right to rent check with our partner NSL and have an acceptable credit history. If you have a licence agreement for 50 weeks, the incoming resident will need to pay a rent top up to bring them into line with residents with 40-week agreements.
